Adventure Time Fan Art - Door to the Enchiridion

This personal project is fan art based off one of the background from Adventure time S1 E5 "The Enchiridion!" This was originally just me trying to replicate the style of Adventure Time backgrounds in 3D, but ended up spiralling into learning Unity HLSL shader coding and C# helper scripts. It is built out of a toon shader using a hand-coded lighting algorithm with manual normal-map implementation, a variant of it for decals to make the interior lines, and then a post-process shader for the exterior outlines. I also implemented foliage sway and water animation into the toon shader for some special effects. Most of the shader tech is drawn from Roystan's articles: https://roystan.net/

This was a great learning exercise for me and I learned so much about low-level graphics technology. There's still some things that I couldn't figure out how to implement, notably multi-colored post-process outlines, a depth-gradient for the water, and not having outlines on the trees due to issues implementing transparency with the vertex animation. I ended up with about 1200 lines of Shaderlab and HLSL code written for this project, over the course of a month of evenings and weekends.
